Manassas man charged in car accident involving cell phone

A 23-year-old man has been charged with hit-and-run offenses after he allegedly ran into another car that was occupied by a woman and her daughter. The accident occurred while he was driving in Manassas Park, according to authorities. The man is accused of crashing into the front left of the car and hitting the driver-side door. Police report the car accident happened around Manassas Drive and Baker Street at about 7:45 p.m.

To make matters worse, he then drove away, leaving the victim’s car blocking the eastbound side of Manassas Drive. When police found the man’s car, they also found damage to it that corresponds with the crash. According to a police spokesperson, he admitted to leaving the scene of the accident and was charged with driving without a license and felony hit and run. The man was held on a $3,000 secured bond, and he now has a court date of Nov. 17.
